Travel
So — the past two weeks have consisted of contemplating my next great adventure (having been almost a year since my Panama and Costa Rica vacations. While I was in Mexico, I looked at my calendar for the next several months and decided that I am too busy to add another trip (have five more planned before the end of 2009), so I started looking into 2010. The Russia Conquest trip that I want to take will still be out of my price range, but I have found a few others that I really am interested in. Here they are (in no particular order)
1. Vietnam for 9 days (Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, etc)
2. China for 13 days (including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Xian, Lhasa, Beijing)
3. Egypt for 9 days (mostly Cairo and Alexandria)
4. Israel for 8 days
5. Croatia for X number of days on the beach
Any thoughts? Places you have visited? Other ideas? Weather conditions? What you ate for dinner? Please advise!

I would vote for Vietnam, Thailand, Egypt, or Croatia myself. Israel is pretty rad, very modern in a lot of ways although not entirely easy to navigate on one’s own. But the food is AMAZING.

I forgot that you have been to Israel! We had a whole lunch discussion with pictures…if I go there, I will completely ask for advice!!!
I think Vietnam would be amazing…but from what I hear, you have to be able to rough it a little. And I have loved 1/2 of all of the Vietnamese food I’ve tasted.
I say Turkey
Its true, Vietnam is a bit rough, but worth it from what I’ve heard. I would like to go their myself. Crotia would be awesome too, but screw the other three… All too hot and full of crime/anti-American sediment.
I would also heartly recommend Scotland in August. Very comfortable weather, amazing landscape, and if you go to Edinbough you’ll get the Fridge Festival… which is like Sundance on crack.
