My Two Coreys

My excitement has just reached it’s feverish high ever. Corey Feldman and Corey Haim are back….and wackier than ever. Think Britney, think Lindsey, think Paris….then think of them as coked out, jail-ridden, philanderers….oh wait. My Two Coreys premeired on A and E this past Sunday, and I am elated. The synopsis goes like this. Corey Feldman (Former Turtle, current Vegetarian) lives with his wife and they seem happy. He is off of drugs, still works, and has a dog. Enter Corey Haim….perhaps he is off drugs, no wife, no work. These former TeenBeat coverboys decide to move in together….to celebrate (and exploit)  the 20th Anniversary of The Lost Boys (remember spikey haired Kiefer?). Obviously, mayhem ensues. Corey Haim is trying to desperately work (even wanting to appear in the straight-to-home-video of Lost Boys 2 — for which he doesn’t get the part.  Feldman is trying to appease his wannabe-model of a wife, Susie. Those crazy boys still look creepy, act creepy, and remind us of the power of the “Coreys” - which was a bit of a phenomenom. Obviously, I heart this show.

The end of my favorite series…

Well, folks, it has come to an end. The popular Harry Potter Series has completed. Yes, I stood in line at midnight. Yes, I argued with 10yr olds about the importance of  Lily Potter’s house. Yes, I am a geek. I, of course, read the book in less than 24 hours. Then I waited…waited….and waited for those supposed friends of mine to finish the literature. Damn you for taking forever….or even KC who hasn’t started it yet! I loved it. Pure and simply. It answered every question (and what it didn’t was answered by good ol’ JK in her Chat Sessions). I cried, I laughed, I yelled (mostly at the Chairman, but yelling nonetheless). Can’t talk about the details yet…must wait for the slackers to finish the book. More later…

Damn that Cho Chang!

So….it has been over a month….yeah…I should get better at this.

So last night was “Harry Potter Night.” Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am a geek. I will spare the ridiculousness that led up to the premiere, but I finally made it. I was happiest to find out that I wasn’t the oldest one there, not by a long shot.

So, here is my review of the movie….I will try to mark the SPOILERS clearly. I am torn by being angry at this film and by being in love with it. First off, I think that the transition of “Harry” in the film versions has been masterful. It follows the exact idea that I dreamed when reading the books. Angsty, angry, mistrusting, gawky, hopeful….plus, he has the whole “Dark Lord killed my family thing.” Truly good. I also like the transition in place between purposeless and purposeful….showing his age, maturity, and realism. We finally say, “Magic is awesome, but life is hard and not a bunch of spells and overflowing feasts.”

Here is the problem. With this book, “Order of the Phoenix,” we are given the most background information out of all the books. This is vital information….it is crucial to the end of the story. This movie, though dealing with some of the major elements, fails to follow through with why the Order is back….what they do specifically….all you see is them fighting with Voldie and hanging at the Black Pad. I mean, Kreacher doesn’t even become a real part of the story….and, he has to be! This movie is shorter than the others….when it didn’t need to be. We missed parts. We needed parts. We neeed reasoning.

I will say this…the final scenes of this movie are the best so far. The….SPOILER….death of Sirius brought me to tears….so artful and difficult. The crashing Prophecies…..LeStrange…..she was A M A Z I N G!!!!! I also thought that Dumbledore’s Army was envisioned so closely from the book that it really captured things perfectly. The fight between the old Order and the Death Eaters was the second best thing of this movie…..bloody brilliant. The best? Well, obviously, it was the fight between Dumbledore and Voldie. Legendary.

I wanted to see a crying Cho Chang…..and to hear Harry kick her to the curb for her tiresome tears….at least we got to hear them talk about her. Stupid Cho Chang.

I wanted more Neville. So much of the Order is about Neville….and the prophecy and the choices made. Neville should have had a larger part….

I loved it….as I love all of them….I just needed more.

One more week until Book 7! Yippee!!!
